Cosa vedere al Lago Trasimeno? Vieni a scoprire cosa vedere in un giorno, cosa fare e cosa mangiare nella splendida cornice del Lago Trasimeno con la nostra miniguida!

Immerso nel verde delle colline umbre, il Lago Trasimeno è il quarto d’Italia per estensione. Sulle sue sponde si trovano borghi di una bellezza mozzafiato come Castiglione del Lago, Passignano sul Trasimeno, San Feliciano, Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Castel Rigone, ma non sono meno fascinosi i borghi situati più all’interno come l’etrusca Panicale, Lisciano Niccone e Piegaro.

Cosa vedere al Lago Trasimeno, i nostri consigli

Ma inziamo la nostra miniguida su cosa vedere sul Lago Trasimeno da dentro il Lago, ovvero dalle tre isole: Isola Maggiore, Isola Minore e Isola Polvese.

La più grande è l’Isola Polvese che con i suoi 69,6 ettari e 313,4 mt slm è anche la più alta delle tre isole del Lago Trasimeno. L’Isola Polvese è liberamente visitabile anche se dal 1995 appartiene al Parco Regionale del Trasimeno e oltre ai bellissimi scorci offre ai visitatori tre punti d’interesse: la Rocca, le rovine della Chiesa Olivetana di San Secondo e la Chiesa di San Giuliano.

Una volta sbarcati sull’Isola Maggiore, l’unica abitata, ci si trova in una piazzatta con due possibilità andare a destra in direzione di via dei “3 martiri” e da qui andare verso il mulino a vento o, risalendo via San Michele Arcangelo, andare verso l’omonima chiesa oppure andare a sinistra verso via Guglielmi e da qui verso il Lungo Lago. Qui le cose da vedere sono diverse: la zona di attracco (via Guglielmi) con i suoi palazzi, la Chiesa di San Salvatore, il rudere della chiesetta monastero delle Suore di San Leonardo, i ruderi della Torre di epoca romana, la Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, la Cappella di San Francesco con all’interno il giaciglio del Santo, lo Scoglio e la fonte di San Francesco, la Chiesa di San Francesco, il Castello Guglielmi e il mulino a vento. Non tutti sanno che l’Isola Maggiore fu uno dei luoghi cari a San Francesco di Assisi che vi sostò e meditò durante la Quaresima del 1211.

La terza isola, l’Isola Minore (detta anche Isoletta) è privata e non visitabile. Attualmente è disabitata, anche se fino al XV secolo risulta essere stata abitata da molte famiglie.

Cosa fare sul Lago Trasimeno

Cosa fare sul Lago Trasimeno? Di cose da fare ce ne sono veramente tante!

Tanto per cominciare vi suggeriamo il tour in traghetto delle isole, per cui vi conviene lasciare l’auto a San Feliciano e prendere uno dei traghetti del primo mattino per l’Isola Polvese. Dopo la visita a Isola Polvese (che prende circa 2-4 ore) riprendete il traghetto per ritornare San Feliciano e recatevi a Passignano o a Tuoro Punta Navaccia dove potrete prendere il traghetto per l’Isola Maggiore.

Dopo aver visitato le isole vi consigliamo di percorrere il periplo del Lago Trasimeno, che corre lungo strade sia Statali, come la SS71, sia strade provinciali e/o comunali come la SP316. Armatevi di cartina stradale o navigatore satellitare e scegliete una località dalla quale partire per scoprire il Lago Trasimeno e i suoi scorci.

Noi vi consigliamo Castiglione del Lago o Passignano perchè tra le cosa da fare sul Lago Trasimeno c’è sicuramente una visita a queste due incantevoli cittadine!

Se siete amanti della bike vi consigliamo di fare il periplo del Lago Trasimeno in bicicletta utilizzando in parte la viabilità ordinaria ed in parte, ove disponibile, l’apposita pista ciclabile. Vista l’estensione del Trasimeno è necessario prevedere tappe di sosta ed … alcuni giorni di pedalata.

Tra le cosa da fare sul Lago Trasimeno non dimenticate una visita ai castelli del lago: dalla Rocca del Leone di Castiglione del Lago ed alla Torre dei Lambardi di Magione fino ai ruderi del Castello di Zocco.

Iniziate l’itinerario a Castiglione del Lago con la visita al Palazzo della Corgna ed alla Rocca del Leone. Il biglietto è unico per entrambe le strutture e la visita dura dalle 2-3 ore , dopodichè rimettetevi in macchina e percorrete la SP316 in direzione San Feliciano Passignano dove troverete la Torre di San Savino, la Rocca Bagliona, i ruderi del castello di Zocco ed il paese di Monte del Lago.

A Magione troverete invece il castello dei Cavalieri di Malta e, in alto sopra il paese, la Torre dei Lambardi. Tra le cose da fare sul Lago Trasimeno noi consigliamo anche una visita al Castello di Mongiovino, piccolo borgo fortificato nel comune di Panicale che ospita anche una bella chiesa del 1513 in stile bramantesco dedicata alla Vergine Maria, il Santuario di Mongiovino.

Cosa Mangiare sul Lago Trasimeno

Non poteva mancare nella nostra miniguida un suggerimento su cosa mangiare sul Lago Trasimeno. Le specialità sono veramente tante e vedono quasi tutte protagonisti i pesci di lago…e l’oco!

Se vi trovate sul Lago Trasimeno e avete la fortuna di trovare chi lo fa assaggiate assolutamente il brustico, un piatto che è allo stesso tempo facile e … quasi impossibile! Esso è composto infatti da pesce di lago (persico reale o tinca) e dalla cannina che altro non è che la canna lacustre usata per fare il fuoco sopra il quale si stende il pesce senza alcuna preparazione lasciandolo abbrustolire fino quasi a carbonizzarlo. Viene servito con olio extravergine, sale, pepe e limone.

Altri piatti tipici locali sono i filetti di persico reale fritto l’Oco arrosto, che altro non è che arrosto di oca. Un’altra variante per cucinare l’”oco” sono i pici, una specie di grosso spaghetto fatto a mano, al sugo d’oca.

Gli amanti del pesce non potranno perdersi la carpa in porchetta, costituita da una carpa regina di almeo 15 – 20 Kg che viene cotta al forno e riempita come una porchetta tradizionale ovvero con lardo, finocchietto ed altre spezie od odori. Infine vi segnaliamo il tegamaccio, una specie di cacciucco a base di pesce fresco di lago (anguilla, luccio, tinca, persico e pesce gatto) tagliati a pezzi e cotti al tegame (da cui tegamaccio) col pomodoro maturo fresco.
