Nella giornata degli innamorati non può mancare una visita alla Basilica di San Valentino, dove riposano le spoglie del santo martire. La Basilica fu costruita proprio al di sopra della tomba di San Valentino, i cui resti giacciono nella teca posta al di sotto dell’altare maggiore.
La visita di questo luogo ricco di storia è in grado di trasmettere delle emozioni uniche e intense, facendone una tappa imprescindibile per tutti gli innamorati e non solo. La Basilica di San Valentino, in stile barocco, conserva inoltre statue e affreschi di importante interesse artistico.

Festa delle Promesse
In occasione delle celebrazioni di San Valentino, le coppie di tutta Italia e del mondo che si sposeranno nel corso del 2019 sono invitate a scambiarsi la Promessa di Matrimonio davanti all’urna di San Valentino, nell’omonima Basilica di Terni.
Si tratta di una ricorrenza particolarmente sentita, con le coppie che suggellano i propri voti ricevendo la santa benedizione e l’augurio di una florida e serena vita familiare. Anche le coppie che celebrano 25 o 50 anni di matrimonio sono invitate a prendere parte agli eventi Valentiniani di Terni, con due particolari celebrazioni dedicate alle Nozze d’Argento e d’Oro.
Per partecipare alla Festa delle Promesse e alla Festa per le Nozze d’Argento e d’Oro, è necessario prenotare in anticipo; la prenotazione si effettua online ed è gratuita.
Run for Love – La Maratona di San Valentino
La tradizionale Maratona organizzata nel corso delle celebrazioni per San Valentino è uno degli appuntamenti più attesi a Terni . La corsa si svolgerà quest’anno nella giornata di domenica 16 Febbraio 2020, riproponendo il suggestivo percorso attraverso la Valnerina.
Alla sua 10° edizione, la maratona prevede varie gare: una Manifestazione Podistica Nazionale-Bronze di 42,195 Km, una Nazionale di 21,097 Km, una mezza maratona di 10 Km e una stracittadina di 5 Km. Le gare partiranno dal cuore della città di Terni: le Nazionali seguiranno il percorso Terni-Arrone-Ferentillo-Terni, mentre le altre si svolgeranno sullo stesso percorso fino a Terni.
La maratona passerà dalla Basilica di San Valentino, per poi condurvi fuori dal centro storico verso la celebre Cascata delle Marmore. A Torre Orsina è previsto il giro di boa per la 21 km, mentre la maratona più lunga prosegue fino a Ferentillo, per poi tornare in città e concludersi a Piazza Europa.
Molto più di una competizione dunque, con i paesaggi naturali umbri che regalano sensazioni uniche e rendono la partecipazione alla corsa un’esperienza affascinante per tutti, dagli amanti dello sport a coloro che amano al natura e lo stare insieme.

Ricordiamo poi le giornate specialmente dedicate al mondo del cioccolato con la manifestazione Cioccolentino, quest’anno alla sua 16° edizione. In programma a Terni dal 13 al 16 Febbraio 2020, Cioccolantino è un appuntamento dolce e romantico, con l’allestimento di stand gastronomici a Piazza Tacito e tanti eventi dislocati nella città.
Per un San Valentino romantico, dolce e divertente, Cioccolentino propone tante cene e degustazioni dedicate a scoprire i segreti del cioccolato e i migliori abbinamenti, comprese degustazioni guidate dei migliori cioccolati internazionali a cura dell’Accademia Maestri Cioccolatieri italiani. Per i più appassionati, sarà l’occasione perfetta per conoscere le migliori tecniche di pasticceria e cake design con workshop e laboratori dedicati.

Visit to the Basilica of St. Valentine
On the day of lovers can not miss a visit to the Basilica of Saint Valentine, where the remains of the holy martyr are preserved. The Basilica was built just above the tomb of Saint Valentine, whose remains lie in a glass case placed under the main altar.
The visit of this place rich of history is capable to transmitting many unique and intense emotions, that making it an essential step for all lovers and not only. The Basilica of Saint Valentine, in a baroque style, preserves also statues and frescos with an important artistic interest.

On the occasion of the celebration of Valentine’s Day, couples from all over Italy and the world who will get married during the 2017 are invited to share their Promise of Marriage in front of the urn of Saint Valentine, in the homonymous Basilica of Terni.
It is an anniversary particularly cherished, with many couples that seal their vows receiving the holy blessing and the best wishes for a prosperous and peaceful family life. Even couples who celebrate 25 or 50 years of marriage are invited to take part at the events of Saint Valentine in Terni, with two special celebrations dedicated to the Gold and Silver Weddings.
To participate at the Feast of Promise, and at the Feast of Silver and Gold Weddings, you need to book in advance; booking is online and free.
Run for Love – The Marathon of St Valentine
The traditional marathon organized during the celebrations for Saint Valentine is one of the most awaited appointment in Terni. This year, the race will be held on Sunday 19th February, with a new and fascinating journey through the Valnerina.
At his 6th edition, the run scheduled two itineraries: an International Race of 42,195 km and a Regional Race of 21,097 km. Both of them will start in the heart of the city of Terni, will pass through the Basilica of St. Valentine and then will take you out of the historic center and towards the famous Marmore Falls. In Torre Orsina there will be the turning point for the Race of 21 km, while the international run will proceed towards Ferentillo, and then it will come back to the city and will finish again at Piazza Europa.
More than a competition, therefore, with many natural umbrian landscapes who will give you unique sensations and who will make of the participation in the race a fascinating experience for everyone, from the lovers of sports to those who love being together and who love the nature.
