Il Museo Eroli di Narni è uno dei sistemi museali più importanti della provincia di Terni: intitolato a Giovanni Eroli (1813-1904), letterato e antiquario originario di Narni, il Museo ospita importanti opere artistiche e collezioni antiquarie.

Palazzo Eroli a Narni

Il museo si trova all’interno di Palazzo Eroli, edificio nato come casa signorile della nobile famiglia omonima. In particolare, tra il ‘600 e il ‘700 gli Eroli portarono avanti dei lavori di accorpamento di diverse proprietà adiacenti, unificate proprio dalla facciata unica che ne da un vero e proprio palazzo di città.

L’edificio si trova nel pieno centro storico di Narni, accanto alla Chiesa di San Francesco e giusto alle spalle del trecentesco Palazzo del Podestà.

Il percorso museale si articola all’interno delle varie sale del palazzo, che sono divise su tre piani ed occupano complessivamente una superficie di circa 900 mq.

Al piano terra del palazzo è ospitata la Biblioteca Comunale di Narni, con oltre diciassettemila volumi e gran parte dei quali stampati tra il 1600 e il 1800. Inoltre, la biblioteca conserva una preziosa raccolta dantesca con quasi un migliaio di testi e oltre ottocento opuscoli, provenienti dalla collezione privata di Giovanni Eroli.

Vissuto nell’Ottocento e scomparso proprio agli albori del secolo scorso, Giovanni Eroli fu uno scrittore e letterato narnese che trascorse la sua vita tra la cittadina umbra, dove si occupò degli archivi e dell’arricchimento della biblioteca stessa, e quegli ambienti eruditi e giornalistici di Roma che continuò a frequentare anche in tarda età.

Al primo piano di Palazzo Eroli sono invece collocate testimonianze preistoriche, una sezione riservata all’Età classica, una Preclassica e una medievale. Tra le opere più importanti esposte, segnaliamo una mummia egizia con il suo sarcofago.

Al piano superiore sono ospitati gli ambienti della Pinacoteca, con al centro una delle opere più importanti del museo: l’Incoronazione della Vergine di Domenico Bigordi, detto il Ghirlandaio, alla quale è riservata un’intera sala. Oltre alle opere del Ghirlandaio è possibile ammirare i lavori di Piermatteo d’Amelia, dello Spagna, del Vecchietta, di Antoniazzo Romano e di Livio Agresti.

A partire dal 2017, acquistando il biglietto d’ingresso al museo, sarà inoltre possibile visitare la Cappella di San Bernardino (Cappella Eroli – Chiesa di San Francesco)

Percorso Museale per Bambini a Narni

I totem progettati su misura sono dedicati alla fruizione dei bambini all’interno del Museo di Palazzo Eroli. “Un Museo a misura di bambino” nasce dall’esigenza di creare un percorso permanente dedicato ai più piccoli, per permettere anche ai bambini di interagire con la collezione in esposizione.

I bambini in visita nei musei insieme alla loro famiglia solitamente non hanno a disposizione i mezzi necessari per comprendere appieno gli input presenti nel percorso espositivo; scopo del progetto è proprio quello di coinvolgere i più giovani con giochi e brevi laboratori attraverso i quali possano anche imparare delle semplici ma basilari nozioni.

I laboratori sono semplici e divertenti ed hanno, ognuno, una scheda dedicata. I genitori hanno a disposizione anche un’ulteriore supporto descrittivo: una guida bilingue (italiano-inglese) che aiuta l’adulto nella scelta delle attività da proporre ai propri figli, per seguirli passo passo nello svolgimento delle attività.

I totem sono un valido mezzo di ausilio per vivere e interagire con il museo in modo diverso e originale e per creare una collaborazione reciproca tra i bambini e i loro genitori.

Al primo piano è inoltre presente assieme alla caffetteria anche un angolo dedicato interamente ai bambini.
