Lo zafferano è un fiore che sboccia tardivo. A Cascia (PG) è presente sin dal Medioevo, ma soltanto da pochi anni è ripresa la sua coltivazione. Ed il paese di Santa Rita dedica 4 giorni, dal 29 Ottobre al 1° Novembre 2011, alla Mostra Mercato dello Zafferano di Cascia, giunta alla sua 11a edizione. Questa manifestazione avviene nel periodo immediatamente successivo alla fioritura della pianta.

Stands espositivi, degustazioni musica dal vivo. La kermesse partirà alle ore 10:30 di sabato 29 Ottobre 2011 presso la Sala S. Pancrazio con la presentazione del percorso dello zafferano: lo Zafferano al Mercato, Piazza Garibaldi; lo Zafferano a Convegno, Sala S. Pancrazio; lo Zafferano in Biblioteca, Limonaia di Palazzo Carli; lo Zafferano a Tavola, ristoranti di Cascia; lo Zafferano in Vetrina, esercizi commerciali di Cascia; la Via dell’oro, degustazioni guidate nei luoghi d’eccellenza del centro storico. Dalle ore 12:00 da Piazza Garibaldiapertura del Mercato dello Zafferano. Il primo giorno terminerà alle ore 17:00 dal Padiglione delle Degustazioni sito nei giardini Mario Magrelli con una degustazione gratuita dello zafferano e musica della Banda di Cascia fra gli stand.

I successivi 3 giorni inizieranno sempre alle 9:00 da Piazza Garibaldi con l’apertura del mercato dello zafferano. Domenica 30 Ottobre 2011 terminerà alle 18:00 con la Via dell’oro: degustazione guidata da gastronomi ed enologi di prodotti tipici allo zafferano accompagnati da vini marchigiani, in collaborazione con il Cedrav. La degustazione è gratuita con prenotazione obbligatoria.
Lunedì 31 terminerà alle 21:00 presso la chiesa di S. Antonio con un concerto di musica da camera de I solisti di Perugia.
Martedì 1° Novembre 2011 alle 17:30 nuovamente la Via dell’oro, ed a seguire chiusura della Mostra Mercato.

Degustazione di pietanze allo Zafferano secondo antiche ricette e moderne interpretazioni preparate dai ristoratori di Cascia; Zafferano in vetrina, esercizi commerciali di Cascia.
