Dal 28 Dicembre 2012 al 1° Gennaio 2013 ad Orvieto si svolgerà la 20ma edizione (la prima nel 1993, ndr) della versione invernale di Umbria Jazz, Umbria Jazz Winter.
Tra il Duomo, il Teatro Mancinelli, il Palazzo del Popolo, il Palazzo dei Sette, la Sala del Carmine, il Museo Emilio Greco ed il RistoranteAl San Francesco” potrete ascoltare grandi protagonisti del Jazz (e non solo) come Kurt Elling, Gregory Porter, Dee Alexander, Gino Paoli, Paula e Jacques Morelenbaum, Pedrito Martinez, Pietro Tonolo, Flavio Boltro, Danilo Rea, Roberto Gatto, The Nashville Gospel Superchoir di Bobby Jones, i Quintorigo insieme al figlio di Charles Mingus, Eric, con “Quintorigo plays Jimi Hendrix”, Gegè Telesforo e molti altri ancora.

Prima performance di Umbria Jazz Winter #20 a partire dalle ore 16:00 di venerdì 28 Dicembre 2012: alla Sala dei 400 di Palazzo del Popolo si esibiranno i migliori studenti dei seminari estivi della Berklee Summer School at Umbria Jazz Clinics, in un triplo set con il quintetto di Gianluca Pellerito e la giovanissima Sarah McKenzie, piano e voce. Ingresso libero.

Alle ore 18:00 street parade per le vie del centro storico con i Funk Off. La marching band, a partire dal 29 Dicembre e fino alla fine della kermesse, aprirà le giornate del Festival (ore 11:30).

L’ormai usuale Meeting Point a Palazzo dei Sette, non stop music con bar, snacks ed enoteca, aprirà alle ore 19:00 con Anaïs St. John & Her Trio. Nelle altre giornate aprirà alle ore 13:00, mentre l’ultimo concerto del Meeting Point inizierà alle ore 01:00 (ad eccezione del giorno di Capodanno). Tra i protagonisti di questo spazio troverete anche Rimbamband, Gegè Telesforo Nu Joy Band (e relativo nuovo album), The Pedrito Martinez Group, Four Vegas, Kim Prevost & Bill Solley.

Al ristorante Al San Francesco tornano i “Jazz Lunch” e le “Jazz Dinner” (ore 13:00 ed ore 21:00), connubio tra buon mangiare e buona musica.
