Nella splendida cornice del Lago Trasimeno, dal 29 Giugno al 5 Luglio 2013 si terrà la nona edizione del Trasimeno Music Festival, diretto dalla più grande interprete vivente di Bach al pianoforte, la canadese Angela Hewitt. La sede principale del festival è il Castello dei Cavalieri di Malta a Magione, con il suo splendido cortile del XV° secolo. Questo attesissimo festival riesce a creare una fusione totale e perfetta tra musicisti e amanti della musica provenienti da tutto il mondo, oltre a offrire al suo publico la possibilità di assistere ogni sera a un concerto diverso e  in diversi suggestivi luoghi dell’Umbria. Degli 8 appuntamenti musicali due si terranno infatti presso la Chiesa di San Domenico di Gubbio e la Basilica di San Pietro a Perugia. Ma vediamo il Programma dell’Edizione 2013 del Trasimeno Music Festival che si apre il 28 Giugno con l’Anteprima (Teatro Mengoni, Magione, ore 21.00), un concerto gratuito aperto a tutto il pubblico che vedrà esibirsi giovani musicisti provenienti dall’ Italia, dal Canada e da Hong Kong. L’organizzatrice del Festival, Angela Hewitt, sarà la protagonista del Concerto di Apertura che si terrà il 29 Giugno alle  ore 21.15 nella splendida cornice del Castello dei Cavalieri di Malta. Domenica 30 Giugno il Festival si sposta a Gubbio e più precisamente nella Chiesa di San Domenico, per una serata all’insegna di Beethoven, dove vedremo esibirsi la Hewitt accompagnata dall’Orchestra della Toscana, per la direzione di Hannu Lintu. Il concerto Perugino di lunedì 1 Luglio (Ore 20.30, Basilica di San Pietro) sarà preceduto alle 17.00 da un incontro con il compositore Michael Berkeley, che in occasione del Centenario della nascita del suo patrigno e noto compositore inglese Benjamin Britten, verrà intervistato dal giornalista e scrittore canadese Eric Friesen. L’evento che ripercorrerà le tappe che hanno scandito la vita e la musica di Britten,  si terrà presso l‘Aula Magna della Facoltà di Agraria e sarà in lingua inglese. Nella stessa serata il concerto vedrà l’esecuzione di Les Illuminations di Britten, oltre a MozartTchaikovsky da parte della Hewitt accompagnata da Chloë Hanslip al violino e dalla soprano Barbara Hannigan, sotto la direzione di Hannu Lintu. Il 2  Luglio la Hewitt si esibirà nuovamente a Magione insieme alla Hanslip, al clarinettista Mark Simpson e al violoncellista Oliver Coates mentre la serata seguente il Castello dei Cavalieri di Malta verrà invaso da parole e musica, con la lettura da parte dei musicisti di opere  che trattano temi musicali. La serata verrà condotta dal pluripremiato scrittore Julian Barnes e per l’occasione il pubblico avrà la possibilità di assistere alla prima mondiale assoluta di tre Cabaret Songs del compositore inglese Michael Berkeley su testi dello scrittore Ian McEwan. Giovedì 4 Luglio Mark Simpson e il Mandelring Quartett eseguiranno un Quintetto per clarinetto e archi di Mozart fino alla serata conclusiva del Festival, venerdì 5 luglio, che vedrà la Hewitt eseguire per la prima volta l’Arte della Fugadi Johann Sebastian Bach nella sua versione completa in un’unica serata. The organizer of the Festival, Angela Hewitt, will be the protagonist of the Opening Concert which will be performed 29th June at 9.15 pm in the beautiful setting of the Castle of the Knights of Malta.

Sunday, 30th June the Festival moves to Gubbio and more precisely to the San Domenico Church, for Beethoven In Gubbio, which will be performed by Angela Hewitt accompanied by the Orchestra della Toscana, for Hannu Lintu direction.

The Monday, 1st July Perugia concert ( San Pietro Basilica,8.30 pm) will be preceded at 5.00 pm by a meeting with the composer Michael Berkeley on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of his stepfather and well-known British composer Benjamin Britten. Berkeley will be interviewed by the Canadian writer and journalist Eric Friesen to retrace the steps that have marked the life and music of Britten. This event will be held in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Agriculture and will be in English. The same evening Hewitt with Chloë Hanslip on the violin and the soprano Barbara Hannigan, under the direction of Hannu Lintu, will perform Britten’s Les Illuminations, as well as Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
On 2nd July, Hewitt will be perform again in Magione with Hanslip, the clarinetist Mark Simpson and the cellist Oliver Coates, while on the following day the Castle of the Knights of Malta will be flooded with words and music, by the reading of works dealing with musical themes leaded by the award-winning writer Julian Barnes. For the occasion there will be the world premiere of three Cabaret Songs by English composer Michael Berkeley on texts of the writer Ian McEwan.

On Thursday, 4th July Mark Simpson and Mandelring Quartett will perform a Quintet for clarinet and strings by Mozart and the day after, the final evening of the festival, Friday 5th July, Angela Hewitt will perform the complete Art of Escape by Johann Sebastian Bach. This will be the first time that performs the work in its entirety in one evening.
