Sempre più cosmopolita la Settimana Internazionale della Danza, che dal 7 al 12 aprile2014 trasformerà Spoleto nella capitale mondiale della sesta arte, grazie a spettacoli, film, convegni, stages ed eventi culturali, miscelati e proposti al pubblico dalla direzione artistica di Irina Kashkova.

Saranno più di cento i giovani ballerini delle scuole professionali di danza che si esibiranno sul palco del Teatro Nuovo Giancarlo Menotti. Quattro le sezioni del Concorso: Classica, Pas de deux, Moderna e contemporanea e Composizione coreografica.

L’edizione del 2014 è dedicata al coreografo Aurelio Milloss nel 25esimo anniversario della sua scomparsa: un grande personaggio della danza mondiale, fondatore del balletto italiano moderno, al quale Alberto Testa dedicherà il consueto incontro di metà settimana.

Sono molte le novità dell’edizione 2014 della storica manifestazione. Tutte caratterizzate da un sempre più forte legame con l’Umbria.

La Settimana Internazionale della Danza verrà ufficialmente aperta il 4 aprile da uno spettacolo ispirato al libro Il piccolo Principe di Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Sotto la regia di Arturo Cannistrà danzeranno gli allievi dell’Associazione TerniEventi Danza. L’esibizione è dedicata agli studenti spoletini delle scuole elementari, medie e superiori che nel corso dell’anno scolastico hanno letto il celebre testo dello scrittore francese che, ancora oggi, vanta il primato di libro più tradotto al mondo. L’iniziativa, nata in collaborazione con la federazione nazionale delle scuole di danza (Fnasd) e l’assessorato alle Politiche Sociali e dei Giovani del Comune di Spoleto, verrà replicata nelle prossime edizioni con il coinvolgimento di altre associazione regionali di danza.

Quest’anno il rapporto speciale con Spoleto si consolida anche grazie ad una nuova iniziativa, realizzata in collaborazione con la sala cinematografica Frau: per tutta la durata della manifestazione verranno proiettati alcuni tra i film più famosi della storia del cinema che hanno avuto la danza come protagonista.

I migliori giovani talenti della danza mondiale verranno consacrati la sera del 12 aprile, al termine dello spettacolo di gala.

La giuria del Concorso, presieduta da Alberto Testa, è formata da alcuni tra i più grandi nomi della danza mondiale: Francesco Ventriglia, coreografo di fama internazionale; Viacheslav Gordeev, direttore artistico del Corpo di Ballo dello Russian State Ballet di Mosca; Jan Broeckx, direttore dell’Accademia di Danza di Monaco di Baviera; Sanja Maier della Rotterdam Dance Academy e Paolo Aloise, coreografo ed esponente di punta dell’hip-hop italiano.

Una apposita giuria di giornalisti assegnerà invece l’atteso Premio della Critica, riservato al giovane ballerino più talentuoso. La presidente Sara Zuccari, direttore del Giornale della Danza, per l’occasione verrà affiancata da Emilio Carelli, storico direttore di SkyTg24 e da Antonella Manni, giornalista della edizione spoletina del Messaggero.

They will be more than a hundred young dancers of the professional schools of dance that they will perform on stage at the Teatro Nuovo Giancarlo Menotti. Four sections of the Competition: Classical Pas de deux, Modern and Contemporary Composition and choreography.

The edition of 2014 is dedicated to the choreographer Aurelio Milloss the 25th anniversary of his death: a great character of the dance world, the founder of modern Italian ballet, to which Albert will pay the usual meeting mid-week.

The best young talents in the dance world will be consecrated on the evening of 12 April, at the end of the gala show.

The Competition jury, chaired by Alberto Testa, is formed by some of the biggest names in the dance world: Francis Gizzi, internationally renowned choreographer, Vyacheslav Gordeev, artistic director of the Ballet Company of the Russian State Ballet of Moscow, Jan Broeckx, Director of the Academy of Dance in Monaco of Bavaria; Sanja Maier of the Rotterdam Dance Academy and Paul Aloise, a choreographer and a leading exponent of Italian hip-hop.

A special jury of journalists instead assign the expected Critics Award, reserved for the most talented young dancer. The president Sara Zuccari, director of the Journal of Dance, will be joined for the occasion by Emilio Carelli, historian and director of SkyTg24 by Antonella Manni, a reporter for the Spoleto edition of the Messenger.
