  • i ricercatori della sezione di Perugia dell’Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare realizzeranno un collegamento in diretta dal CERN di Ginevra per conoscere di persona la macchina e gli scienziati in grado di scomporre anche le particelle più piccole che costituiscono la materia e scoprirne le caratteristiche fondamentali;

Alessi” in via Mazzini ci saranno 2 spazi interattivi.

From September 28th to 30th, 2012 the streets and some places in the inner city of Perugia return to breathe and disseminate science, art and technology thanks to the 2012 Perugia Science Fest.

The Perugia Science Fest aims to bring to the general public these issues, whether it be a simple tourist and visitor or scientist, thanks to a series of screenings, science demonstrations, lectures, book presentations, exhibitions, scientific narratives, scientific aperitifs, shows, guided tours, workshops etc. in some of the most beautiful glimpses in Perugia, creating a unique atmosphere. And with a simple, innovative and attractive language.

The tenth edition of the festival will also propose in the opening day, Friday, September 28th, 2012, the first Notte Europea dei Ricercatori in Umbria (European Researchers’ Night in Umbria). The Department of Physics at the University of Perugia in via Pascoli will open from 18:00 until 23:00 and will give you the opportunity to discover two fundamental tools to understand and study the matter:

  • the researchers at the Perugia section of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics realize a live link from CERN in Geneva to meet in person the machine and scientists capable of breaking even the smallest particles of matter and discover their fundamental characteristics;
  • the Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences research team will show through the SEM microscope (microscope that uses electrons instead of light) some of the most beautiful pictures of nanoscopic worlds, such as microfossils, nano materials and cells.

Still in the occasion of the European Researchers’ Night in Umbria, from 21:00 at the Auditorium San Francesco al Prato “ITIS Galileo” with Marco Paolini. Tickets in advance on the Ticketitalia circuit.

At the Centro Servizi “G. Alessi” in via Mazzini there will be 2 interactive spaces. The first concerns the plastic of the future, with a particular focus on Mater-Bi®, named Bioplasticos. In collaboration with Novamont, will reveal the life-cycle of bioplastics. Sunday, September 30th, 2012 at 16:00 at Bioplaticos theatre play for children “Volevo vivere in un mondo di plastica” (“I wanted to live in a plastic world”) with Daniele Celli.
The second space is called Matefitness. A real playful, interactive and fun mathematics gym. Saturday, September 29th, 2012 starting at 16:30 there will be a meeting with Giovanni Filocamo, author of the book “Il matematico curioso” (The curious mathematical”).
The interactive spaces have the following times: Friday, September 28th and Saturday, September 29th, 2012 from 16:00 to 19:30. Sunday, September 30th, 2012 10:30 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 19:30.

The workshops and activities for children and families (not related to mathematics, ed) will be held at the Rocca Paolina. They will be totally free without having to book, with free admission while seats last.
