Sabato 24 Novembre 2012 ad Amelia si celebra Santa Fermina (o Santa Firmina), patrona della Città e dei Naviganti (ed anche di Civitavecchia, ndr), grazie alla Festa a lei dedicata.

La 22ma staffetta podistica di S. Fermina, Civitavecchia – Amelia, 107 km, giungerà presso la Sala Municipale alle ore 16:30 circa, e porterà ancora una volta la Fiaccola di S. Fermina. La Fiaccola servirà ad accendere i ceri votivi durante la solenne cerimonia de la “Pesatura ed Offerta dei Ceri alla Santa“, rispettando gli Statuti Comunali della Città di Amelia del 1346: i Sindaci dei Comuni dell’antica Diocesi (Alviano, Attigliano, Giove, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina e Penna in Teverina) offriranno ceri di tante once quanti sono i “fochi”, cioè le famiglie dei loro Castelli. I Ceri saranno consegnati al Corteo Storico, in abiti trecenteschi, presso la Sala Municipale, per poi essere portati alle 17:30 nella Cattedrale di Amelia, luogo dove si svolgerà la cerimonia e la Concelebrazione della Santa Messa presieduta da S.E. Mons. Vincenzo Paglia.

Oltre ai festeggiamenti religiosi, dalle 09:00 alle 13:00 presso i Giardini Pubblici troverete la Fiera di S. Fermina, mentre, sempre a partire dalle 09:00 ma fino alle 19:00, a Piazza Marconi Mercato dei prodotti tipici e artigianali dell’amerino.

The 22nd St. Fermina’s relay race, Civitavecchia – Amelia, 107 km, arrives at the Sala Municipale at 16:30 or so, and once again will bring the Torch of St. Fermina. The Torch will light the votive candles during the solemn ceremony of the “Pesatura ed Offerta dei Ceri alla Santa” (“Weighing and Offering of the Candles to the Saint“), respecting the Statuti Comunali of the City of Amelia dated 1346: the Mayors of the Communes of the ancient Diocesi (Amelia, Alviano, Attigliano, Giove, Guardea, Lugnano in Teverina and Penna in Teverina), will offer as Ceri of many ounces as are the “fochi”, the families of their Castles. The Candles will be delivered to the Historical Parade, in fourteenth-century clothings, at the Sala Municipale, then be brought at 17:30 in the Cathedral of Amelia, venue of the ceremony and the Celebration of the Holy Mass presided by S.E. Mons. Vincenzo Paglia.

In addition to religious celebrations, from 09:00 to 13:00 at the Public Gardens you will find the Fair of S. Fermina while, always from 09:00 but until 19:00, in Piazza Marconi Market of the typical and craft products of the amerino.
