La cipolla è il prodotto tipico (insieme alla Vernaccia) di Cannara, riconosciuta come prodotto agroalimentare tradizionale (P.A.T.) dal Ministero delle politiche Agricole, Alimentari e Forestali italiano. Varie sono le tipologie di questa pianta bulbosa, dalle numerosissime proprietà terapeutiche, presenti nella città situata al centro della Valle Umbra e coltivate dai “cipollari” cannaresi fin dal XVI secolo, come documentato nello Statuto Comunale Cannarese anche se alcuni studiosi dicono ancor prima, 1300: Rossa di Toscana o di Firenze (dal bulbo rotondeggiante e di colore rosso ramato); Dorata di Parma (dal bulbo di forma simile ad una trottola e di color giallo paglierino); Rossa di Tropea (dal bulbo allungato e di colore rosso cardinale); Borettana o piatta di Rovato (dal bulbo appiattito e di color giallo ambra); alcune varietà locali, con semi autoprodotti.

E dal 5 al 9 e dall’11 al 16 Settembre 2012 Cannara ospiterà per la 32ma volta la Festa della Cipolla di Cannara, inserita nel più ampio cartellone di eventi denominato Settembre Cannarese.
5 stand enogastronomici (“Il Giardino Fiorito”, “El Cipollaro”, “Al Cortile Antico”, “Il Pescatore”, “La Taverna del Castello” e “Il Rifugio del Cacciatore”) e 3 punti ristoro (“La Locanda del Curato”, “La Tana di Pinocchio”, “PGS Bosico”), ognuno con il proprio menu ed il proprio chef, prepareranno piatti tipici e specialità a base di cipolla e non. Ogni sera della kermesse a partire dalle ore 19:30.

Le mostre ed esposizioni nel centro storico della Festa della Cipolla 2012 apriranno i battenti dalle ore 20:30 ed oltre ai deliziosi manicaretti potrete trovare musica dal vivo, giocoleria, sport, gare cinofile e molto altro ancora.

Every evening of the event starting at 19:30.
