La foresta fossile<\/strong> \u00e8 costituita da alberi fossili appartenenti ad una specie di sequoia gigante prsente in Italia oltre un milione di amni fa (nel Quaternario antico). La particolarit\u00e0 di questa foresta \u00e8 che gli alberi si sono fossilizzati in posizione verticale e non orizzontale come nelle altre foreste fossili, gi\u00e0 di per se molto rare, giunte fino a noi. Questo alimenta, tra gli esperti, la teoria che un’inondazione abbia sommerso gli alberi in vita, conservandoli fino a nostri giorni nelle condizioni reali del tempo.I fossili hanno dimensioni imponenti: 1.5 m di diametro per una altezza compresa tra i 5 e 10 metri.<\/p>\n
