{"id":194039,"date":"2022-08-12T17:50:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-12T15:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/cathedral-of-gubbio\/"},"modified":"2022-08-13T11:11:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-13T09:11:11","slug":"cathedral-of-gubbio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/en\/religion-spirituality\/cathedral-of-gubbio\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathedral of Gubbio"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"display: none;\">\n<p><strong>La<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Cattedrale di<\/strong> Gubbio, conosciuta anche come\u00a0<strong>Duomo di Gubbio<\/strong> o<em>\u00a0Basilica dei Santi Mariano e Giacomo Martiri,<\/em>\u00a0fu costruita negli ultimi vent&#8217;anni del XII secolo ed and\u00f2 a sostituire una precedente chiesa gi\u00e0 eretta nello stesso punto. Potete ancora trovare traccia di questo primo edificio sul lato destro della chiesa.<\/p>\n<p>La cattedrale si presenta in pieno <strong>stile<\/strong> <strong>gotico:<\/strong>\u00a0sopra il portale a sesto acuto c&#8217;\u00e8 una magnifica e grande <strong>vetrata circolare,<\/strong> decorata da un&#8217;elegante fascia a fogliame.\u00a0Ai lati della vetrata troviamo i simboli degli evangelisti: l&#8217;aquila di San Giovanni, il bue di San Luca, il leone di San Marco, l&#8217;angelo di San Matteo. Al centro del timpano si trova inoltre il simbolo di Giovanni Battista.<\/p>\n<p><a><img class=\"\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>All&#8217;interno del Duomo di Gubbio<\/h2>\n<p>Altra vetrata che vi stupir\u00e0 \u00e8 quella presente <strong>nell&#8217;abside,<\/strong>\u00a0alzando lo sguardo dall\u2019interno ad unica navata potrete notare come sia caratterizzato da grandi arconi ogivali trasversi a sostegno del tetto. Lungo la parete destra sono visibili resti di affreschi trecenteschi, mentre appena accanto si trova <em>l\u2019Immacolata Concezione<\/em> di Virgilio Nucci risalente al XVI secolo.<\/p>\n<p>Lateralmente vi sono le piccole cappelle, al cui interno troviamo numerose le opere d&#8217;arte. La <strong>cappella del Santissimo Sacramento<\/strong>\u00a0\u00e8 stata eretta per volere del vescovo Alessandro Sperelli e fu decorata dal pittore eugubino Francesco Allegrini nel XVI secolo. I temi trattati dall&#8217;artista ricordano figure di santi legati alla storia cittadina, come Sant\u2019Ubaldo, San Pier Damiani, San Rodolfo, San Giacomo e San Mariano. La tela con <em>Nascita della Vergine<\/em> \u00e8 invece opera di Antonio Gherardi da Rieti (1684).\u00a0Nella settima campata c&#8217;\u00e8 <em>la Piet\u00e0<\/em> di Dono Doni, importante pittore assisiate.<\/p>\n<p>La parete sinistra conserva, nella decima campata, un altare realizzato su <strong>sarcofago romano<\/strong> con sopra Sant\u2019Ubaldo, con tela di Benedetto Nucci (XVI secolo) mentre nel coro si trova il <strong>Seggio episcopale,<\/strong> intagliato verso la met\u00e0 del sec. XVI. Il sarcofago sotto l\u2019altare maggiore contiene le reliquie dei <em>SS. Attrazione piuttosto curiosa di questo museo \u00e8 senz&#8217;altro la <strong>Botte dei Canonici,<\/strong>\u00a0che si trova collocata proprio all&#8217;ingresso.
