In quegli anni ospit\u00f2 probabilmente Federico II di Svevia ancora bambino, affidato alle cure di Corrado di Urslingen. Nel 1197 il futuro imperatore fu infatti battezzato ad Assisi, dove trascorse alcuni anni della sua infanzia. Un anno pi\u00f9 tardi, durante i moti popolari indipendentisti, la Rocca fu distrutta dagli Assisani.<\/p>\n<p>Soltanto nel 1356 il Cardinale Albornoz ebbe cura di farla ricostruire a beneficio del Papa riutilizzando le mura merlate esterne occidentali e parti delle mura interne. Nel 1360 si aggiunse la Rocca Minore, per difendere l\u2019angolo nord-orientale delle mura verso il monte.<\/p>\n<p>Al tempo di Pio II (1458-60), il Signore di allora, Jacopo Piccinino, fece costruire la torre poligonale a nord-ovest, collegata alla Rocca Maggiore da un corridoio fortificato.<\/p>\n<p>Infine Papa Sisto IV restaur\u00f2 il mastio nel 1478 e Paolo III fece erigere nel 1535-38 il torrione circolare vicino all\u2018ingresso.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\"><a href=\"\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/hotel\/assisi\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>>> Ci sono offerte in scadenza!
