Qui ha sede infatti un <em>Parco Scientifico Didattico e un Laboratorio Territoriale per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile<\/em> dedicato a ricerca, educazione e turismo ambientale. Il centro propone varie visite guidate naturalistiche con percorsi tematici e attivit\u00e0 per bambini o scuole.<\/p>\n<p>Nei suoi 70 ettari di estensione, l\u2019isola ospita un esteso <strong>canneto<\/strong>, l\u2019ombrosa <strong>lecceta di San Leonardo<\/strong> ed un <strong>oliveto secolare<\/strong>. Prenditi del tempo per camminare al riparo di questi alberi, nella tranquillit\u00e0 dell\u2019isola, le acque del lago che fanno capolino dalle fronde con i loro colori e riflessi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/cosa-vedere-a\/attachment\/trasimeno_isola-polvese_sentiero\/\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Trasimeno_Isola-Polvese_sentiero.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Il Giardino delle Piante Acquatico<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Di particolare interesse, inoltre, il <em>Giardino delle Piante Acquatico o Piscina del Porcinai,<\/em> dal nome del noto architetto italiano del paesaggio Pietro Porcinai che cur\u00f2 il progetto. Il Giardino, commissionato dal conte Citterio proprietario dell\u2019isola, du progettato alla fine degli anni \u201950 e recuperato poi nel 1995 dopo intensi lavori di ristrutturazione.<\/p>\n<p>La piscina venne creata in una <strong>cava di arenaria dismessa, interamente scavata nella roccia<\/strong> fino ad una profondit\u00e0 massima di 5,30 metri. La vasca centrale \u00e8 coronata da numerosi <em><strong>\u201cninfei\u201d<\/strong><\/em>, <strong>vasche minori<\/strong> laterali poste a diverse altezze. Sia la vasca centrale sia le piccole piscine sono alimentate direttamente dalle acque del Trasimeno, in un sistema di spazi e quote d\u2019acqua appositamente creato dal Porcinai per dare l\u2019illusione della continuit\u00e0 con le acque del lago a chi si fosse immerso nella piscina.<\/p>\n<p>Nei Ninfei furono sistemate <strong>varie specie di piante acquatiche<\/strong> ed \u00e8 quindi possibile ammirare <em>iris selvatici, ninfee, fiori di loto, gigli d\u2019acqua e papiri.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Il giardino \u00e8 perfettamente integrato alle vasche,<\/strong> s\u2019incastona in parte nella viva roccia e presenta piante tipiche della vegetazione mediterranea come <em>mirto, corbezzolo, timo e lavanda<\/em>. Tutt\u2019attorno, in un vasto prato disseminato di<em> alberi di ulivo<\/em>, sono stati sistemati dei grandi lastroni di pietra chiamati <em><strong>\u201cstenditoi\u201d<\/strong><\/em> messi l\u00ec proprio per poter prendere comodamente il sole dalla piscina.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/cosa-vedere-a\/attachment\/trasimeno_isola-polvese_giardino-piante-acquatico2\/\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Trasimeno_Isola-Polvese_giardino-piante-acquatico2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>ISOLA POLVESE: ASPETTO STORICO-ARTISTICO<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Resti del Castello Medievale<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eretto in origine nel XIV secolo, il castello costituiva una <strong>fortezza<\/strong> in grado di assicurare rifugio agli abitanti dell\u2019isola in caso di attacco o pericolo (si narra che nel 1300 sull\u2019isola abitassero circa 500 persone). Nato per difendere la popolazione e i monaci olivetani di San Secondo &#8211; vedi sotto &#8211; , il castello fu poi sede del governatore del lago. Dal 1973 la rocca, cos\u00ec come tutta l\u2019isola, passarono sotto l\u2019amministrazione di Perugia.<\/p>\n<p>Oggi ne rimane la <strong>cinta muraria esterna<\/strong>, dalla particolare forma di un pentagono irregolare, <strong>coronata da ben 5 torri nei punti di vertice, pi\u00f9 una sesta<\/strong> indipendente posta nel punto dell\u2019antico ingresso. Le torri sono unite dalle mura attraverso un camminamento praticabile, sebbene l\u2019interno della Rocca sia normalmente chiuso al pubblico.<\/p>\n<p>Giunto sull\u2019isola, potrai respirare l\u2019<strong>atmosfera del passato<\/strong> e ammirare torri, mura medievali e il cortile interno, adibito a teatro all\u2019aperto.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/natura-e-ambiente\/cosa-vedere-all-isola-polvese-al-trasimeno\/attachment\/trasimeno_isola-polvese_castello-medievale_foto-di-roberta-didolcievasioni\/\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Trasimeno_Isola-Polvese_Castello-Medievale_Foto-di-Roberta-diDolciEvasioni.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Chiesa di San Giuliano<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>La Chiesa \u00e8 una vera e propria perla dell\u2019isola<\/strong>. La piccola chiesa di San Giuliano infatti, costituita da una sola navata, al suo interno \u00e8 affrescata e contiene porzioni di costruzione in <strong><em>opus reticulatum<\/em><\/strong> <em>romano.<\/em> Questi resti, cubilia di cm 8 di lato circa, sono conservati nel muro di terrazzamento del piazzale della chiesa.<\/p>\n<p>Gli <strong>affreschi<\/strong> sono invece situati nelle pareti absidali e risalgono alla <em>scuola umbra quattrocentesca.<\/em> Raffigurano figure di Santi (San Giuliano, San Sebastiano, San Bernardino, San Rocco) ed altre figure purtroppo non identificate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/natura-e-ambiente\/cosa-vedere-all-isola-polvese-al-trasimeno\/attachment\/trasimeno_isola-polvese_chiesa-di-san-giuliano-e-torre-del-castello\/\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Trasimeno_Isola-Polvese_chiesa-di-San-Giuliano-e-Torre-del-Castello.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Complesso del Monastero di San Secondo<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le primissime notizie di questo antico complesso risalgono all\u2019<strong>anno Mille<\/strong>, anche se l\u2019effettiva elevazione a monastero riconosciuto \u00e8 datata t<em>ra il XIV e il XV secolo.<\/em> Dopo un periodo florido e di sviluppo inizi\u00f2 la decadenza del luogo, anche per le condizioni insalubri dell\u2019isola che furono provocate da un abbassamento delle acque del lago e un impaludimento della zona, costringendo i monaci a trasferirsi presso Perugia.<\/p>\n<p>Successivamente il monastero venne chiuso in via definitiva ed infine, conseguentemente allo spopolamento e alle vicende di tutta l\u2019isola che divenne propriet\u00e0 privata, abbandonato. Dopo il ritorno all\u2019amministrazione pubblica di Perugia, nel 1974, furono avviati <strong>lavori di restauro<\/strong> del complesso monumentale che \u00e8 a tutt\u2019oggi costituito da chiesa, torre campanaria e monastero.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/natura-e-ambiente\/cosa-vedere-all-isola-polvese-al-trasimeno\/attachment\/trasimeno_isola-polvese_chiesa-del-complesso-del-monastero-di-san-secondo\/\" rel=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Trasimeno_Isola-Polvese_Chiesa-del-Complesso-del-Monastero-di-San-Secondo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>&#8211; Chiesa di San Secondo<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Dell\u2019originario edificio romano realizzato in arenaria e travertino restano oggi la<strong> facciata<\/strong>, i <strong>muri perimetrali esterni<\/strong>, una <strong>parte dell\u2019abside<\/strong> e la <strong>cripta<\/strong>. L\u2019ingresso alla cripta si trova in un passaggio centrale dell\u2019abside, che scende verso il basso e si apre su un ambiente semicircolare dominato al centro da una colonna in pietra calcarea.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>&#8211; Torre Campanaria<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Costruita su di un\u2019antica muratura etrusca, la torre possiede una base quadrata. E\u2019 situata all\u2019esterno della chiesa, nell\u2019angolo nord orientale.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>&#8211; Monastero degli Olivetani<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Il complesso ha subito <strong>profonde modifiche<\/strong> nel corso del tempo, rendendo l\u2019aspetto originario riconoscibile solo in parte. L\u2019edificio \u00e8 composto da <strong>due piani<\/strong> posti in modo perpendicolare alla chiesa, e per accedere al piano superiore occorre utilizzare i due ingressi esterni. Il piano terra costituiva <em>la zona servizi e il refettorio<\/em>, coperto da una volta a botte e caratterizzata da una grande nicchia dove era posta una statua raffigurante la Madonna. It takes its name from the famous Italian architect of landscapes Pietro Porcinai, who cureted the project. Commissioned by Count Citterio, owner of the island, the garden was designed at the end of &#8217;50 and recouped in 1995 thanks to important restoration works.<\/p>\n<p>The pool was created in a <strong>cave of sandstone, entirely excavated into the rocks<\/strong> until a maximum deep of 5,30 meters. The central basin is surrounded by many <strong>&#8220;<em>ninfei<\/em>&#8220;, smaller lateral basins<\/strong> with different heights. The water of both the central basin and the small basins comes from the Trasimeno Lake water thanks to a system of spaces and shares specifically created by Porcinai to create the illusion of continuity with the lake for those who are immersed into the pool.<\/p>\n<p>Around the <em>ninfei<\/em> there are <strong>many water plants<\/strong> and it is possible to see iris, <em>water lilies, lotus, liliums etc.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The garden is perfectly integrated with the basins. Nestled in the rocks, it has typical Mediterranean vegetation as <em>myrtle, corbezzolo, thyme, lavander<\/em>. There are also a large field with olive groves and big rock slabs called <strong><em>&#8220;stenditoi&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>, used to have a sunbath along the pool.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"\"><img class=\"\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>POLVESE ISLAND: HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC SIDE<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Remains of the Medieval Castle\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Built in XIV century, the castle was a <strong>fortress<\/strong> able to protect the inhabitants of the island in case of attack or danger (in 1300 there were about 500 people on the island). Created to defend the people and the monks of San Secondo &#8211; find out more below &#8211; the castle hosted the governor of the lake. The castle and also all the island has been moved under the administration of Perugia since 1973.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the <strong>external walls of the fortress<\/strong>, with the particular form of an irregular pentagon, crowned by <strong>5 towers plus another independent tower<\/strong> located on the ancient entrance. Towers are related by the walls through a walkway, although the caste is usually closed to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Once on the island, you will breath the <strong>medieval atmosphere<\/strong> and admire the towers, the walls and the interior court setted up as a open air theater.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"\"><img class=\"\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Church of San Giuliano<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This Church is a real treasure of the island<\/strong>. The small Church of San Giuliano, formed by one only nave, has many affrescos and a part of the <strong>Roman opus reticulatum<\/strong>. These remains are cubes of 8 cm by side and are keeped on the wall of the forward square.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The affrescos<\/strong> are located on the walls of the apse. Dated of the Umbrian School of 1400, they illustrate many Saints (Saint Guiliano, Saint Sebastiano, Saint Bernardino, Saint Rocco) and other not identificated people.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"\"><img class=\"\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monastery of Saint Secondo<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First news about this ancient monastery <strong>dated 1000<\/strong>, although it became officially a Monastery between XIV and XV century. It had a period of development but then a decline started, also because of the unhealthy conditions of the island caused by a decrease of the level of waters. The area changed into a swampland and the monks moved to Perugia.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Monastery permanently closed. After the depopulation of the island, also because it became a private property, the Monastery was left to its own devices. The administration of Perugia returned in 1974 and it has taken care of the island since that date. <strong>The ruins were restored<\/strong> and today there are the Church, a bell tower and the monastery.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"\"><img class=\"\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Church of San Secondo<\/strong><br \/>\nOf the original Roman church, built in sandstone and travertine, there are <strong>the facade, the external walls, a part of the apse and the crypt<\/strong>. The entrance of the crypt is in a central passage of the apse. It descends to a semicircular ambience dominated by a column of limestone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Tower Bell<\/strong><br \/>\nBuilt on an ancient etruscan wall, the tower has a square base. It is located outside the church, on the north-east corner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Olivetani Monastery<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Monastery had had <strong>many transformations<\/strong> over time and it only partially preserves the original aspect. The building has <strong>two floors<\/strong> and you have to use the external entrance for going upstair. The ground floor was the a refectory and it had a big recess with a statue of the Holy Madonna. In the past, the first floor had many rooms using for the sacristy and the dormitory of the monks.
