Arroccata su di una rupe, inoltre, Orvieto offre scorsi panoramici davvero splendidi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/itinerari\/cosa-vedere-a-orvieto-in-un-giorno\/attachment\/orvieto-panorama\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-77161\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-77161\" title=\"Orvieto, panorama\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Orvieto-panorama.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"324\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Cosa Vedere a Orvieto: la meraviglia del Duomo<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Impossibile non iniziare il nostro tour orvietano dallo splendido <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/religione-e-spiritualita\/duomo-di-orvieto\/\"><strong>Duomo di Orvieto<\/strong><\/a>, un variopinto esempio di architettura romanico-gotica, ricchissimo di opere d&#8217;arte, che custodisce al suo interno il Sacro Corporale.<\/p>\n<p>Iniziato nel 1290, fu poi continuato da <strong>Lorenzo Maitani<\/strong>, al quale si deve in particolare la mirabile <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/arte-e-cultura\/mosaici-duomo-orvieto\/\"><strong>facciata<\/strong><\/a> con i suoi eccezionali bassorilievi; l&#8217;elegante fronte, largo 40 metri ed alto 52 m, \u00e8 impreziosito da mosaici e dal rosone di Andrea Orcagna. L&#8217;interno del Duomo \u00e8 ornato di importanti opere, tra le quali i celebri affreschi di <strong>Luca Signorelli<\/strong> e il <strong>Reliquiario del Corporale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gli affreschi della <strong>Cappella Nuova<\/strong> (eseguiti dal 1499 al 1504 da Luca Signorelli, che vi raffigur\u00f2 Paradiso e Inferno, eletti e reprobi, scene con profeti, angeli e santi) vi lasceranno sicuramente senza fiato per la loro bellezza e la luminosit\u00e0 dei loro colori.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-align: center;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DuomoOrvieto_int32.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60126\" title=\"DuomoOrvieto_int3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/DuomoOrvieto_int32.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"329\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nella cappella posta sul lato opposto della chiesa, si trova il <strong>Reliquiario del Corporale<\/strong>, un celebre capolavoro d&#8217;oreficeria eseguito nel 1337-1338 dal senese Ugolino di Vieri, che custodisce il Corporale che nel 1263 si macchi\u00f2 di sangue allorch\u00e9 un prete boemo, celebrando la Messa senza fede, spezz\u00f2 l&#8217;ostia consacrata, da cui fuoriusc\u00ec il sangue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nella parte posteriore del Duomo si trovano i <strong>Palazzi dei Papi<\/strong>, austeri edifici duecenteschi intitolati a Urbano IV, Martino IV, Bonifacio VIII. In quest&#8217;ultimo, detto anche Palazzo Soliano, si trova il <strong>Museo dell&#8217;Opera del Duomo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Cosa fare a Orvieto<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Dopo aver ammirato queste meraviglie, <strong>cosa fare a Orvieto<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sicuramente immergersi nell&#8217;atmosfera senza tempo della <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/storia-e-archeologia\/orvieto-underground\/\"><strong>Citt\u00e0 Sotterranea<\/strong><\/a> che fu interamente ricavata dalle cavit\u00e0 scavate dagli abitanti nel corso dei secoli, ricca di pozzi e grotte. Il pi\u00f9 famoso \u00e8 probabilmente il <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaumbria.net\/it\/storia-e-archeologia\/pozzo-san-patrizio-orvieto\/\"><strong>Pozzo di San Patrizio<\/strong><\/a>, accanto ai giardini comunali che si trovano all&#8217;interno della <strong>Fortezza dell&#8217;Albornoz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Il pozzo, straordinaria opera di ingegneria civile del Cinquecento, fu scavato per volere di <strong>Clemente VII,<\/strong> rifugiatosi ad Orvieto durante il sacco di Roma nel 1527. La sua realizzazione, voluta per motivi di sopravvivenza in caso di assedio o calamit\u00e0 naturali, fu affidata ad Antonio da Sangallo, coadiuvato da Giovanni Battista da Cortona.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Le sue dimensioni sono impressionanti: <strong>profondo 62 metri, ha un diametro di 13,5 metri<\/strong>.
