Ciotti&#8221; Carsulae"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A\u00a0short\u00a0distance from\u00a0San\u00a0Gemini\u00a0and\u00a0Terni\u00a0stands the town of\u00a0Roman origin\u00a0of <a href=\"\"\/en\/history-and-archeology\/carsulae\/\"\">Carsulae<\/a>,\u00a0one of the\u00a0most interesting archaeological sites\u00a0of Umbria.\u00a0To the south-east of the\u00a0site is\u00a0located\u00a0the <strong>Visitor Center and\u00a0Documentation &#8220;U. Ciotti&#8221; Carsulae<\/strong>\u00a0find space\u00a0within which\u00a0the exhibition rooms,\u00a0a bookshop.<\/p>\n<p>On the ground floor\u00a0classroom\u00a0is dedicated\u00a0to the routes\u00a0of the\u00a0natural\u00a0andarchaeological\u00a0Carsulae\u00a0Arnolfe\u00a0Lands,\u00a0prepared by\u00a0Cynthia\u00a0Perissinotto and Hyginus\u00a0Pineschi.\u00a0The courses are\u00a0aimed at the\u00a0rediscovery\u00a0of the environmental aspects\u00a0of\u00a0their\u00a0Martani, fortifications\u00a0located\u00a0on the northern slopes\u00a0of the Terni basin\u00a0and\u00a0pre-Roman settlements,\u00a0with particular\u00a0attention\u00a0to the Umbrians\u00a0and their places\u00a0of worship.\u00a0In addition there are\u00a0four routes\u00a0that span\u00a0the two\u00a0branches of the Flaminia,\u00a0the\u00a0Western and\u00a0Eastern Europe.\u00a0In the\u00a0exhibition gallery,\u00a0located upstairs,\u00a0there are\u00a0artefacts found\u00a0during\u00a0excavations\u00a0that took place\u00a0intensivelybetween 1951\u00a0and 1972.<\/p>\n<p>Among\u00a0these,\u00a0noteworthy is\u00a0a sarcophagus,\u00a0dating from the\u00a0first century.\u00a0AD,originally\u00a0located\u00a0near the\u00a0tomb\u00a0spire, which collected\u00a0the remains\u00a0of a\u00a0girl, andcontaining\u00a0a necklace and\u00a0a pair\u00a0of gold earrings.<br \/>\nIn\u00a0the course\u00a0of restoration,\u00a0but\u00a0exposed,\u00a0is a statue\u00a0of Bacchus, probably belonging to the\u00a0building\u00a0for the show,\u00a0the late first\u00a0century.\u00a0A.D.,\u00a0beginning of\u00a0next.<\/p>\n<p>Of great\u00a0impact\u00a0are the\u00a0remains of\u00a0a colossal\u00a0statue of the emperor\u00a0Claudius,including\u00a0the head\u00a0and knee,\u00a0dating\u00a0to the earliest\u00a0years of the reign,\u00a0corroborating the\u00a0hypothesis of\u00a0a series\u00a0of statues\u00a0of the imperial family\u00a0in the\u00a0city\u00a0court.<br \/>\nCompleting the collection two memorial stones, a mosaic fragment found near the Forum and clay material of various kinds, used both as decoration of buildings, both for daily use.
