Gubbio (PG) and Christmas are a marriage that has lasted 31 years, since 1981, when on the slopes of Mount Ingino the “Eugubini” decided to “build” a Christmas Tree with over 250 points of light green, 650 meters high, 300 multi-colored lights and a star on the top surface of 1,000 m² designed by 200 points of light. It remains active throughout the Christmas period.
A creation that can hardly go unnoticed, and in fact in 1991 it entered the Guinness Book of World Records.
And to celebrate his tree, Gubbio for the 13th consecutive year will host the “Concerto sotto l’Albero” (“Concert under the Christmas Tree“), became one of the most anticipated musical events on the national scene, which has seen major international artists in the past, just to name a few Giovanni Allevi and the Philharmonische Camerata Berlin in 2007 or even Sergei Nakariakov, “the Paganini of the trumpet,” and the Interpreti Veneziani and Orchestra d’Archi in 2009.
For the 2011 Concerto sotto l’Albero will perform “The Russian Chamber Philharmonic St. Petersburg“, directed by Juri Gilbo and with Alexander Hrustevich, extraordinary talent and genius of the Accordion recognized as one of the greatest virtuosos of this instrument in the world. December 11th, 2012 from 19:30 at the church of San Domenico.
