Montefalco è uno dei borghi più noti e visitati dell’Umbria, anche grazie alla fama del vino Sagrantino prodotto proprio in queste terre.
Circondato da campagne e vigneti, il centro cittadino è racchiuso all’interno delle imponenti e antiche mura di Montefalco e conserva edifici civili e religiosi di grande interesse storico-artistico.

Montefalco, dove si trova?
Montefalco è situato in un’individabile posizione dominante sulle valli del Topino e del Clitunno, offrendo una vista incantevole di un ampio panorama delle terre umbre.
Si trova nelle campagne tra Foligno e Spoleto, a circa 12 km dalla prima e circa 25 dalla seconda. E‘ facilmente raggiungibile anche da Assisi (36 km) e da Perugia (50 km circa).
Una volta giunti nella cittadina, da visitare sono senz’altro il Palazzo Comunale di origine duecentesca, la chiesa di Sant’Agostino, la chiesa romanica di San Bartolomeo con la vicina Porta di Federico II del 1244 e la Chiesa di Santa Chiara, al cui interno troviamo importanti dipinti di scuola umbra.
Da non perdere, anche una visita alla trecentesca Chiesa di San Francesco, al cui interno è oggi ospitato il Museo Civico di Montefalco. Qui potrete ammirare tanto dipinti di grande livello come un „Presepio“ del Perugino, quanto lo straordinario ciclo di affreschi delle „Storie di San Francesco“ di Benozzo Gozzoli.
Poco lontani dal centro abitato, sorgono la chiesa cinquecentesca di Sant’Illuminata e quella quattrocentesca di San Fortunato, che ospita nella lunetta del portale e nell’altare di destra ancora opere di Benozzo Gozzoli. You absolutely should not forget to visit the 14th century church of St. Francis, which is now the seat of the Civic Museum; in fact, inside, you’ll find many paintings of great artistic value such as the „Nativity“ by Perugino and the extraordinary cycle of frescoes: “ The Stories of St. Francis by Benozzo Gozzoli. Near the inhabitated area you’ll find the 16th century church of St. Illuminata and the 15th century church of St. Fortunato which contains, in the lunette of the portal and in the altar to the right, works of art by Benozzo Gozzoli.

Montefalco, située dans une position dominant les vallées du Topino et du Clitunno, offre une vue sur un large panorama sur les terres de l’Ombrie.
Les édifices les plus importants à visiter au sein des antiques murailles de Montefalco sont sans aucun doute le palais communal, datant du XIIIème siècle, tout comme l’église de Saint Augustin, l’église romane de Saint Bartolomé avec la porte voisine de Frédéric II datant de 1244 et l’église de Sainte Claire à l’intérieur de laquelle se trouvent des peintures de l’école ombrienne.
