Avigliano Umbro si trova solo a pochi chilometri da Amelia. Si accede alla città dalla Porta Vecchia, elemento di spicco tra i reperti artistici della cittadina, recante ancora il simbolo dell’Aquila con due acquilotti, effige del location di Todi, che mantenne a lungo il controllo della cittadina.

La Chiesa di Sant’Egidio, di epoca romanica, è l’esempio più antico di arte religiosa del borgo. La chiesa parrocchiale reca in buono stato alcuni affreschi del periodo barocco attribuiti a Bartolomeo Barbini da Montepulciano. Notevole, nelle vicinanze, e più precisamente nelle vicinanze del caratteristico paese di Sismano il Castello Medioevale. Punto d’incontro fin da inizio secolo, è per gli aviglianesi Teatro Comunale.
