La XV edizione del Festival Pianistico di Spoleto è stata dedicata al bicenteneario di Franz Liszt ed al centenario della nascita di Gian Carlo Menotti. E Spoleto, per celebrare il Maestro che nel 1958 fondò il Festival dei Due Mondi, il 9 e 10 Dicembre 2011, ore 21:00 (con anteprima per le scuole Venerdì 9 Dicembre 2011, ore 10:00), precisamente al Teatro Caio Melisso, ospiterà l’operina in due atti per soli, coro e pianoforte Chip and his dogChip e il suo cane.

L’opera, per bambini e prima nazionale nel suo nuovo allestimento, è un raro lavoro. Fu rappresentata la prima volta nel maggio del 1979 nella città di Guelph, in Canada, e nel 1997 al Festival dei Due Mondi.
Al pianoforte e direttrice artistica sarà Laura Magnani, già nel 1997 al piano ed oggi direttrice del Festival Pianistico di Spoleto. Annalisa Pellegrini dirigerà e preparerà le voci,Graziano Sirci alla regia, Loretta Bonamente come aiuto regista, Luca Paluello curerà le scenografie multimediali ed i costumi ad opera di Marco Nateri.

I solisti saranno ragazzi dai 6 ai 15 anni, selezionati nella Civica Scuola delle Arti del Municipio Roma 3. Il coro di voci bianche sarà una fusione tra elementi della Civica Scuola delle Arti di Roma, del Coro di Voci Bianche “Winckelmann” di Roma curato da Donatella Casa e del Coro della Scuola Media “Pianciani – Manzoni” di Spoleto, curato da Alessandra Natalini.
