Presso la fraz. Rotecastello di San Venanzo (TR) sta per arrivare la 17a edizione di Agosto in Medioevo, dal 2 al 5 Agosto 2012.

Il castello di Rotecastello, edificato nel XXII secolo in cima ad una collina, è ancora perfettamente conservato: ancora intatti risultano essere i camminamenti sotterranei; i canaletti per gettare l’olio bollente sugli assalitori; le feritoie; il tessuto urbano; la Chiesa della Madonna della Neve; la grande torre di Rotecastello; la Chiesa di S. Michele Arcangelo.

Per i primi 3 giorni dei 4 previsti, Agosto in Medioevo 2012 partirà dalle ore 19:30 con la Cena medievale per le vie del borgo, e si chiuderà a partire dalle 23:30/24:00 con esibizioni musicali dal vivo. Giovedì 2 Agosto 2012 a partire dalle 22:00  la Sfida Medievale “La Corsa dell’Acqua del Faena”; Venerdì 3 Agosto dalle 21:30 spettacolo di giocoleria comica; Sabato 4 Luglio dalle 22:15 Corteo Storico con oltre 100 figuranti ed a seguire Spettacolo in Piazza con la rievocazione in costume di una sollevazione del popolo di Rotecastello contro le tasse imposte dal Governo della Città di Orvieto.

Domenica 5 Agosto 2012 sarà una giornata un po’ diversa. Dalle 17:00 Processione della Madonna della Neve e benedizione dello stendardo. Dalle 19:30 degustazioni di vini e prodotti tipici. Gran finale alle ore 22:00 con lo spettacolo lirico Cavalleria Rusticana, melodramma in un atto tratto dalla Novella di Giovanni Verga, musiche di Pietro Mascagni.

The Castello di Rotecastello (Rotecastello Castle), built in the twenty-second century on top of a hill, is still perfectly preserved: still intact appear to be the underground walkways; the gutters to throw boiling oil on the assailants; the slits; the urban fabric; the Church of the Madonna della Neve; the great tower of Rotecastello; the Church of St. Michele Arcangelo.

For the first three days of the fourth planned, 2012 Agosto in Medioevo will start from 19:30 with the Cena Medievale per le vie del borgo (Medieval Dinner through the streets of the village), and will close starting from 23:30 / 24:00 with live musical performances. Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 from 22:00 the Medieval Challenge “La Corsa dell’Acqua del Faena”; Friday, August 3rd from 21:30 juggling comedy show; Saturday, July 4th from 22:15 Historical Parade with over 100 walkers-on and to follow Entertainment in the Square with the re-enactment in costume of an uprising of the people of Rotecastello against the taxes imposed by the Government of the City of Orvieto.

Sunday, August 5th, 2012 the day will be a bit ‘different. From 17:00 Procession of the Madonna della Neve and blessing of the banner. From 19:30 tasting of wines and typical products. Grand Final at 22:00 with the show opera Cavalleria Rusticana, opera in one act taken by the Novella by Giovanni Verga, music by Pietro Mascagni.
