In particolare, la giornata rappresenta l’evento conclusivo della rassegna “Il Borgo d’inverno” previsto dal 7 Dicembre 2018 al 17 Gennaio 2019. Un programma ricchissimo di eventi, arricchiti dalla tradizionale “Via dei Presepi” (terminata il 6 Gennaio 2019) con le grandi rappresentazioni sacre allestite nei locali del Borgo e in particolare lungo Corso Bersaglieri. Tra gli altri, il Presepe Monumentale “Città di Perugia”, con gli scorci e i monumenti più significativi del capoluogo umbro, il tradizionale presepe napoletano, il “Presepe Grande” con un allestimento rinnovato di grande effetto all’interno della Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate e, novità di quest’anno, il presepe “di pietra” presso i Giardini dell’Enel.

La festa di Sant’Antonio Abate è particolarmente sentita ad Assisi, dove il Santo viene celebrato con grande solennità. Dopo la distribuzione di pane votivo nella mattinata, contadini, allevatori, pastori e semplici cittadini portano in parata nella piazza centrale di Santa Maria degli Angeli i propri animali domestici per la tradizionale benedizione effettuata dai frati della Porziuncola. Quest’anno l’evento, denominato Piatto di Sant’Antonio, avrà luogo domenica 20 Gennaio 2019.

Sant’Antonio Abate in Valnerina

Profonda religiosità e devozione caratterizzano la festa del 17 Gennaio in onore di Sant’Antonio Abate anche in Valnerina.

A Norcia, le celebrazioni liturgiche si svolgono generalmente nel Monastero delle monache benedettine, che vede riunita la popolazione con i propri animali per la benedizione del bestiame, del sale e del grano, aspetti portanti di questa festa.
