26th Todi Arte Festival - 2011

Change the dates (from August 28th to September 4th, 2011). Change the Artistic Direction, this year entrusted to the duo Emiliano Leonardi - Giulio Castrica. But the Todi Arte Festival comes back, for its Twenty-sixth edition, to flood with Art the streets of Jacopone. Ambitious is theme of the festival for this year: it will be 8 days of music, theater and dance to rediscovery the Art as an educator and trainer of social development of the individual.

The shows will alternate between the Teatro Nido dell'Aquila, the Teatro Comunale di Todi, the Chiostro delle Lucrezie and the impressive square Piazza del Popolo.

It starts at 21:00 on 28th at the Teatro Comunale with the Ensemble Musicale Scaligero, soloists of the theater "Ala Scala" in Milan. From August 29th to September 2nd will begin the series of aperitifs, called PreFestival this year: the mini-performances of theater, classical music and jazz from 18:00 at the Chiostro delle Lucrezie, Nido dell'Aquile. For example, the 29th is the turn of the jazz concert by Javier Girotto, Pippo Matino and Silvia Barba. € 10.00 a person.
After the "Events", all beginning at 21:00, is expected to the Dopofestival, from 23:00: Cabaret and Theatre performances, beginning on 29th, too, but instead will end on 3rd, when Lella Costa will perform at the Teatro Comunale.

The event of 29th, from 21:00, at the Teatro Comunale, is Gli emisferi del Mondo (e dell'Anima) - The hemispheres of the World (and of the Soul), by Luis Bacalov and Andrea Cortesi.

The 30, again from the Teatro Comunale and directed by Leo Muscato, Peppe Barra in the Comedy of Errors by W. Shakespeare.

The 31st will be an evening dedicated to the ballet with the Stars of the Bolshoi in Moscow, Natalia Vasyliev and Ivan Osipov with La Nuit des Etoiles, by the YOUNG RUSSIAN BALLET company. They will perform at the Piazza del Popolo.

Renzo Arbore and the Orchestra Italiana will exhibit in Todi Sept. 1st, with a date of their summer tour in 2011. The one-man show and his orchestra certainly did not betray the expectations of those who attend the Piazza del Popolo.

On September 2nd for the "Events" section, will be on stage a musical "supergroup" called Todi Arte Festival Band. The band will present Niki Nicolai and Pippo Matino, but the real special guest will be Alex Britti.

The comedy is the theme instead of the 3rd. Lella Costa will precede Enrico Brignano with his "Sono Romano ma non è colpa mia" ("Im Roman but is not my fault"). Still from Piazza del Popolo.

Closing the 4th with two appointments: the first from 18:00, Temple of San Fortunato, will be on stage "In laude Jacopone", Stabat Mater by Luigi Boccherini, directed by Maestro Dorsi. Free admission. At the Teatro Comunale di Todi, from 21:00, take place another comedy by W. Shakespeare, Hamlet and other stories. With Giorgio Albertazzi and Anna Proclemer.
