2011 Pellegrini sul Sentiero di San Francesco (Pilgrims on the Path of St. Francis) – 3rd edition

Back from 1st to September 3rd, 2011, the new edition of the pilgrimage from Assisi to Gubbio, on the Path that St. Francis ran between February and March of 1206 when, after he stripped himself of his father's wealth, he decided to get away from Assisi and go to Gubbio, where he found refuge at the Spadalonga's family. Here he received a rough tunic, probably the prototype of the cowl.
The walk, as the two previous editions, will be dedicated to reconciliation. Year's theme for this third pilgrimage will be "Riconciliarsi con Dio" ("to be reconciled with God"). Also provided a special appearance by a French delegation of Venelles, a town twinned with Valfabbrica.

Departure in the morning of 1st September from Assisi, at 8:30, after a liturgy and a visit at the tomb of St. Francis. The first day of the pilgrimage will start from Porta San Giacomo and ends in the late evening arriving in Valfabbrica, where the pilgrims, after a meeting at the Church of San Sebastiano with prof. Marco Moschini that will tell the experience of his reconciliation with God, can participate in the Festa d'Autunno (Autumn Festival) organized by the municipality.

The second day, September 2, includes, in the morning, the route that links Valfabbrica with Caprignone. After the dinner, the pilgrims will put on in march to the hermitage of San Pietro in Vigneto. The day will end with another moment of reflection and prayer.

The last stage of the pilgrimage, after a passage at the Vallingegno Abbey, on September 3rd, 2011, it foresees the arrival to the Vittorina little church of Gubbio, the place where the Saint met the Wolf. And to celebrate this event will be held the national meeting of the Associazione degli Affidatari del Lupo Italiano (Association of the Affidataris of the Italian Wolf). The Association will be present for the entire pilgrimage, and some wolves will walk alongside the pilgrims, just as St. Francis did.
