Autumn is the season of the new oil, the first bruschettas. And from the October 29th, 2011 starts 2011 Frantoi Aperti (Open House at the Oil Mills), reached its 14th edition. Tastings, festivals, concerts and performances along the Umbria DOP Oil Road, with the Umbria DOP extra virgin olive oil at the center. For example, on October 29th and 30th October in Trevi (PG) there will be 2011 FestivOl, 5th edition.

If you prefer the white truffle, from October 28th, and until November 1st, 2011, in Gubbio (PG) arrives the 30th Mostra mercato nazionale del tartufo bianco e dei prodotti agroalimentari (White truffle and food farmings National Market-exhibition). Here, too, food and wine, taste trails and performances. Do not miss!

It is still a Market-Exhibition, but it is in Cascia (PG) and the star is a spice, a flower that blooms late, in this period: from October 29th back in the town of St. Rita the 2011 Mostra Mercato dello Zafferano di Cascia (Cascia's Saffron Market-Exhibion). And purchase display stands, dishes and side events. The event will end on November 1st, 2011.

In Montecchio (TR), Melezzole fraction, and in Toscolano, Avigliano Umbro (TR), is time for the chestnuts, thanks to the 2011 Fiera della Castagna e dei prodotti tipici della montagna, 25th edition (jpg 178 kb) (2011 Fair of Chestnut and of the typical products of the mountain). The October 29th and 30th, 2011 (Toscolano only the 30th, note) there will be tasting and sale of chestnuts and typical products of the mountain, with related events.

Montone (PG) is preparing to celebrate for the 28th time the fruits of the forest thanks to the 2011 Festa del Bosco - Mostra Mercato dei prodotti del bosco e del sottobosco (Feast of the Wood - Products of the forest and of the undergrowth Market exhibition). Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, mushrooms, truffles, apples and chestnuts at the center of attention. Hiking and walking in search of the fruits of the woods, painting exhibitions, conferences, workshops of the Altotiberini artisans, concerts and shows. From October 29th to November 1st, 2011.

We could not finish our enogastronomy events report without speaking of sweets: in Parrano (TR) from October 29th to November 1st comes the Il castello del dolce (the castle of the sweet), with sweet jam, cloves, walnuts and hazelnuts, chestnuts and berries can be tasted in the Castele and on the cellars of the town. And then, from 15:00 to 18:00, you can taste Umbrian sweets like frittelle di San Giuseppe, castagnole, frappe, tortucce, pasta dolce and others.

For the last two appointments we will abandon good food and good drink. In Città di Castello (PG), at the permanent headquarters of the SMAI Consortium of Via Vittorini, returns the Mostra del Mobile di Città di Castello (Piece of Furniture Exhibition of Città di Castello), from October 29th to November 6th, 2011. 70 craftsmen of the furniture scene, not Altotiberini only (known throughout the world and soon will bear the mark of the regional protection "Mobile in Stile prodotto in Umbria") but from all over Umbria and even from nearby Tuscany. Admission is free.

We conclude our overview of the November 1st Long Weeked 2011 with the 2011 Fiera dei Morti (Fair of the Deads) of Perugia, from November 1st to 6th, 2011.
