Pilgrimage to Santa Scolastica 2011

St. Scolastica, the sister of St. Benedetto, was born in the territory of Norcia in the fifth century AD.
This Santa is revered, especially among the peoples of the Sibillini and among Germanic peoples for whom is the patron saint of breastfeeding. It happened and it happens, even today, to meet the Germanic couples who ask to the Holy the miracle to get the milk to mothers.
For the occasion, the President of the Community of Castelluccio calls for the availability of a priest to the Curia and commissioned a Mass in the church dedicated to her; the President himself, at the end of the Mass gives, first of all the women, and then to all those who appear in front of the Church, two slices of bread or a rosette of pottage and a glass of wine.
Unlike the past, where the procession from Castelluccio di Norcia to Norcia took place on foot and walked the last stretch on their knees, women are accompanied by bus to the Church of the Holy, but recite the Holy Rosary and call with the same sing-song ("St. Scolastica fa piove ijò la lenta; San Benedetto fa piove ijò l'orzetto") and with the same devotion once.

In return, the devotees gathered along the way bunches of flowering broom and just returned to the Castelluccio hang outside the doors of their homes to a lunation.
