2011 Saffron of Cascia Market Exhibition, 11th edition

The saffron is a flower that blooms late. At Cascia (PG) is present since the Middle Ages, but only recently resumed its cultivation. And the village of Santa Rita devotes four days, from October 29th to November 1st, 2011, the Mostra Mercato dello Zafferano di Cascia (Saffron of Cascia Market Exhibition), now in its 11th edition. This event takes place in the period immediately following the flowering of the plant.

Display stands, tastings and live music. The event will start at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at the Sala S. Pancrazio with the presentation of the Market Exhibition and the Path of Saffron: Saffron Market, Piazza Garibaldi; Saffron in Congress, Sala S. Pancrazio; Saffron in the Library, Limonaia Palazzo Carli; Saffron Dinner, Cascia restaurants; Cascia Saffron Showcase, shops of Cascia; the Gold way, tasting tours to places of excellence of the historical center. At 12:00 am, from Piazza Garibaldi, the opening of the Saffron Market. The first day will end at 17.00 from the Tasting Pavilion in the Mario Magrelli's gardens site with a free tasting of saffron of Cascia and music by Banda di Cascia between the stands.

The next 3 days will always start from Piazza Garibaldi at 9:00 with the opening of the market of saffron. Sunday, October 30th, 2011 will end at 18:00 with the Golden Way: by gourmets and tasting of local products, accompanied by wines from the Marche with saffron, in collaboration with the Cedrav. The tasting is free with reservations required.
Monday 31st will end at 21:00 at the Church of St. Antonio with a concert of chamber music by I Solisti di Perugia.
Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 at 17:30 Gold Way again, and following closure of the Maket Exhibition.
