Il Mercato delle Gaite 2010

The Mercato delle Gaite is now one of the most important historical events of the Umbria region. Bevagna is held every year in June to commemorate the daily life of the city between 1250 and 1350.

Stands out for both celebration and competition among districts. Municipal statutes come down to us attest in fact that the term Gaite or Guaite stated the neighborhoods in which had divided the city of Bevagna.

The Market of the Gaite is a historical commemoration of folk traditions, a festival that sees 4 Gaite of the city (San Giorgio, San Giovanni, San Pietro and Santa Maria) to organize their own markets independently and competed to win the prize consecrates the historical interpretation of this fact more faithful to the Middle Ages.
