2011 Mostra Mercato Nazionale "Il Tartufo Bianco", 32nd edition ("The White Truffle" National Market Exhibition)

Città di Castello (PG) is ready to spend 3 days, from November 4th to 6th, 2011, the most noble products of the forests of the Upper Valley of the Tiber: the "trifola", the white truffle. Thanks to the 32nd edition of the "Il Tartufo Bianco" - Mostra Mercato Nazionale ("The White Truffle" - National Market Exhibition). The white truffle is the king of the event, but there will be ample space to other fruits of the forest, to the Chianina, new oil, the regional carving championship (suggestive sculpture of fruit and vegetables to decorate cocktails and enrich the tasting), exhibitions, competitions, master's, and much more.

The event, which will take you through 15 locations in the historic center, will be divided into 4 main themes:
- Laboratories (Reservations are required, numbers in the brochure. Pdf). Friday, November 4th, 2011 from 10:00 to 12:00, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 15:00 to 19:30;
- Exhibitions and Markets (shopping and tasting in the streets of the old town of Città di Castello to discover new tastes, to remember the ancient tradition and learn the recipes). The 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday 5th and Sunday, November 6th, 2011 from 9:00 to 21:00;
- Tastings (menu banner of wood's products and Upper Tiber Umbrian culinary wisdom, by combining new and sensory pathways). November 4th, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 5th and 6th from 11:30 to 3:00 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.;
- Fornelli in Piazza (Stoves in the Square) (the show with demonstrations of cooking, "challenge in the kitchen" and guided tastings). November 4th, 2011 from 18:00 to 19:30, Saturday 5th and Sunday, November 6th, 2011 from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:30 to 20:00.

The inauguration of the exhibition, after the conference-preview La dieta senza glutine ("The gluten-free diet"), Thursday, November 3rd, 2011 from 15:00 at the training center G.O. Bufalini, and the start on the following morning of several laboratories, will be November 4th at 17:30 from Piazza Matteotti where, for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the Upper Tiber Valley bakers will offer the "Arte Bianca" ("White Art").

Closing, as said, November 6th, 2011. The day will open with the Race of truffle dogs at the Alexander Langer Park, 8:00 am. The final events will be the Alla Scoperta Dell'Olio Umbro (Umbrian oil discovery), guided tasting at the Palazzo del Podesta, 18:00; Presentation of the book "Eat Parade" at the Tela Umbra laboratory, from 19:00; and a performance by the Academy Ballet, Piazza Gabriotti, at 19:00.

At some stands (Cocktails dell'Unità d'Italia; L'Arte nel Gusto; IV° Salone del Vino and II° Corso Enologico Regionale, categoria Igt; I Piatti della Tradizione; Eccellenze dell'Alto Tevere; Insieme con Gusto) can be make one or more food and wine tastings thanks to the Food Card, Eno Card and Menu Card (minimum cost € 3, maximum € 15).
