Spoleto (PG) is preparing to host, from June 29th to July 15th, 2012, Spoleto55 Festival dei 2Mondi (Festival of the 2Worlds) 2012, the international festival of arts and culture with 55 performances, 106 openings of sipario, 2 festivals of cinema, a theater workshop, three conferences, 2 contests, 4 awards, exhibitions and special events.

The rich program of the 2012 Festival of 2Worlds is divided into 6 main areas: Opera; Music; Theatre; Dance; Art; Events.
For the Opera section will be represented "The Turn of the Screw" by Benjamin Britten, based on the famous story by Henry James. Directed by the Festival's Artistic Director Giorgio Ferrara and with the Verdi Orchestra of Milan directed for the occasion by the Maestro Johannes Debus. On June 29th, 2012 at 20:00 at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, with repeats at 17:00 on June 30th and July 1st at 16:00.

The Music section is well represented and will be opened by the concert “Note Senza Confini” ("Notes Without Borders") by the Orchestra d′Armonia Città di Terni. June 30th, 2012, at 12:00 in Largo Ferrer (free show). From July 3rd to 15th, 2012 the “Concerti di Mezzogiorno” (Noon Concerts) will return, while always from June 3rd but until to the14th "cocktail hour" with the elements of the "Francesco Morlacchi" Conservatory of Perugia. Not to mention, for example, the piano concertos, the "Francesco Cafiso All Stars Reunion" (July 14th, 2012 Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, at 19:00). The final concert of this edition will be given to the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse headed by Tugan Sokhiev, who will propose Polovesiane Dances by Alexander Borodin and the Symphony no. 5 in E minor Op. 64, Fantasy Overture, taken from the Romeo and Juliet by Pëtr Il'ič Čajkovskij.

In Paris - A Play, based on the story by Ivan Bunin, will be the first show of Theatre of the Spoleto55, and it will see as actor the dance icon Mikhail Baryshnikov. Directed and adapted by Dmitry Krymov. First performance on June 30th, 2012 at 16:00 at the Teatro San Nicolò. The lion's share of this section is up to Lulu, representation in German with subtitles inspired by the efforts of Frank Wedekind and by the homonymous film with Louise Brooks. Leading actress Angela Winkler, direction and director of the Berliner Ensemble by Robert Wilson and Lou Reed's music (rumour has it that he could make a visit in Spoleto, ed). July 5th, 2012 at 21:00 at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti, replies in the 2 following days.

The great Dance will have its first appointment on June 30th, 2012 from 21:15 at the Teatro Romano with Manuel Legris and his Wiener Staatballet. Also on the same stage will go up the Pacific Northwest Ballet of Peter Boal, from July 6th to 8th, 2012, and the Dresden Semper Opera Ballet, directed by Aaron S.Watkin, 13th and 14th July 2012.

Even the Art will have his place. The first exhibition to be inaugurated, the starting point of the Fetival, will be organized by the Municipality of Spoleto for the 50th anniversary of the exhibition "Sculpture in the City" set up in 1962 by John Carandente. It will be called "+50. Sculptures in the city between memory (1962) and present (2012)", edited by Gianluca Marziani and from 10:00 on June 29th, 2012.

And, last but not least, the Special Events. Competitions, awards, film screenings, readings, conferences... For example we mention the Without Borders Film Festival (July 6th through 8th) and a show dedicated to Indro Montanelli and his writings titled "Io e...", edited by Spoleto55 and Fondazione Corriere della Sera.
