Festa delle Acque 2011 - Water Festival 2011

From 3 to July 10, 2011, at the Piediluco lake in Terni, come back the traditional celebrations for the summer solstice: the Festa della acque (Water Festival). The squares of the town by the lake "explode" of color, music and events.

The celebration of the rites of summer solstice has its roots in the ancient times, when the population of the lake adorned ritual boats to celebrate the aquatic divinities. Today, modern boats are allegorical, the true works of art. The parade of allegorical boats is scheduled on the evening of July 9, at 21, with the fireworks that will begin at 23:30.

But the modern festival is much more, and has become a veritable cultural festival with performances and concerts: for Piediluco si racconta, there will be the "Show of historical postcards and photos at the No. 5 Square Bonanni, July 3 to 17. At Corso Salvati there will be the exhibition on the traditions of fishing, while in all the streets and squares of the country on July 7 there will be "The History in Piazza". At the Fortress of Albornoz, July 8th from 20:00, there will be the "Dinner with Blasco and Garcia", an evening of food tasting with "minstrels and storytellers"; for the Twinning Special, with the Terni's Cantamaggio, the July 5 from 21.30 there will be the songs of the "Dai canti delle tradizioni popolari al Cantamaggio di ieri e di oggi – Canzoni e poesie in dialetto ternano raccontano la città delle acque"; for Piediluco in bloom, 9 and 10 July 2011, there are alleys and flowering balconies along the streets and squares of Piediluco.

The Water Festival is part of a broader calendar dedicated to 'Summer in Piediluco-Marmore-Valnerina, which sees the bill several events taking place all summer in the main squares of the various countries involved.
