Assisi is ready to welcome, for the third year in a row, the WTE, the World Tourism Expo, which aims to promote and enhance the sites and the cities recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
The city of St. Clare and St. Francis will make available, from September 21st to 23rd, 2012, the spaces of the new cultural center of Assisi, which is the Lyrick Theatre and the adjacent Pala Eventi, with the latter which will be inaugurated on the occasion of 2012 WTE.
Stands, conferences, round tables, panels, cooking show by Gambero Rosso, a concert of classical music and an exhibition of tango. But three appointments will steal the scene: the Workshop of September 21st, from 10:00 to 18:00 at Palaeventi, for the exclusive use of exhibitors and tour operators with commercial offers on the Unesco World Heritage Sites, Responsible Tourism and Sustainable Tourism. The buyers will come from every part of the globe, such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, France, UK, USA, Scandinavia and Japan, and of course the Italians, for a total of 150 operators.
The second and the third concern two prizes. It will assign the 2012 TRI UNESCO and 2012 TC UNESCO. The 2012 TRI is the Italian Responsible Travel Award for UNESCO, now in its fourth edition, which will reward the better package or tour itinerary in terms of responsible tourism; instead comes to the third edition the 2012 TC, the Unesco Culture and Travel Award which rewards the best package tour on a destination recognized UNESCO world heritage site. The awards are both promoted by the Italian newspaper L'Agenzia di Viaggi, and will be given Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 at the Teatro Lyrick starting at 11:00.
Novelty of the 2012 World Tourism Expo the first edition of the Giornate Mondiali della Dieta Mediterranea (World Days of the Mediterranean Diet): during all the 3 days will be gutted the nutritional model and culture of the Mediterranean Diet, which since 2010 has been listed as a UNESCO intangible heritage as an example of excellence of lifestyle as well as alimentary. With exhibitions, tastings, conferences and entertainment. In addition to Italy, to have had this UNESCO recognition were Greece, Morocco and Spain, which will be added to the other guest countries of the Workshop. Every nation adhering to the 2012 Giornate Mondiali della Dieta Mediterranea will propose independent and suggestive initiatives.
The entrance at the 2012 World Tourism Expo Unesco cities and sites will be free and the stands open to visitors from 10:00 to 18:00. On September 21st, from 19:30 Novaklassika Ensemble concert with the soloist Milton Masciardi (UNESCO contrabass). Music by Bottesini, Rossini and Vivaldi, at the Foyer of the Teatro Lyrick. Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 from 18:00 and from 21:00 "Dancing Under the Stars: Tango - World Heritage", with the participation of Samuel Peron and Agnese Junkure and in collaboration with the “Soleluna Dance Gallery”. The event will end Sunday, September 23rd, 2012 at 19:30 with the conclusion of the cooking show.
