18th FAI World Hand Gliding Class 1 Championship. Sigillo, Monte Cucco - 2011

After a tough fight against candidates such as Germany, Turkey and Australia, Mount Cucco and Sigillo (PG), Italy, have been chosen as host of the 18th World Hand Gliding Class 1 Championship, FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale).

And, therefore, from the 17 to July 30, 2011, Monte Cucco will sail to conceal their 165 Class 1 drivers (the premier class), from 37 nations. We hope that Italy will be able to defend the two titles won in 2009 in France: the individual with Alex Ploner and the team title. In addition, Italy is also European Champion, having won the title last year in Spain.

The Regional Park of Monte Cucco and Sigillo are renowned as one of the world's best hang gliding areas where, thanks to the excellent exposure to wind and thermal currents, weather conditions and the orography of its territory.

The opening ceremony, accompanied by a wonderful show of openness, is scheduled for Sunday, July 17 starting at 20:00.

But at Sigillo (and Costacciaro) there will be not only the race: from 15th to 31th there will be dinners, dj-set, rock and classical music concerts, festivals, exhibitions of truffle. And much more!
