2011 Sport Fishing World Championships - 3rd edition

Italy will host, from the 28th August to September 4th, 2011, the third edition of the Sport Fishing World Championships. 6 regions were chosen for the competition: Lazio, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Trentino Alto Adige and Umbria.

The event, organized by the Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities (FIPSAS), will provide for fewer than 26 challenges divided between inland waters (rivers and lakes) and those at sea. There will be more than 2,500 athletes, 1,000 technicians and attendants, 1,500 judges and race commissioners race: there will be approximately 5,000 participants from 66 different nations, members of the International Confederation of Sport Fishing (CIPS), the International Federations (FIPSed, FIPS-Mer, FIPS-Mouche) and the International Federation of Casting (ICSF).

As far as the Umbria, in particular, will be five competitions that will take place in the province of Perugia, between August 29th and September 3rd, 2011. The hosting municipalities will be Cerreto di Spoleto, Scheggino, Todi, Umbertide and Piegaro. The Nera river, in particular, has been chosen for the competitions of the Trout Fishing World Championships.


Specifically, these will be the race held in Umbria, with the dates:

- Feeder, Tevere river/Montemolino (Todi), from 29/08/2011 to 02/09/2011;
- Carp Fishing, Pietrafitta basin/Piegaro, from 29/08/2011 to 01/09/2011;
- Trout with natural baits, Nera river/Scheggino, from 01/09/2011 to 03/09/11;
- Artificial baits shore Angling – Spinning, Nera river/Borgo Cerreto (Cerreto di Spoleto), dal 29/08/2011 al 31/08/2011;
- Meeting, from 29/08/2011 to 01/08/2011, Faldo lakes/Umbertide.

Will be 6 days of sport and adventure in some of the most beautiful of Valnerina and Umbrian patches. For fans, an event not to be missed!
