Medieval Fortress

The medieval fortress built in the V - VI century by the Lombards is in position relative to the center of Passignano and after the bombing of the Second World War and a long period of restoration that has forced it to close its doors to the public, was reopened in May of 2008.

Offers visitors a panoramic view of 360° around Trasimeno Lake and the hills.
This wonderful view is enjoyable after having climbed the spiral staircase and reached the terrace on the top of the tower(high 32 meters).
The origins of the castle are to be traced back to the Lombard period, however, were probably the Tuscan marquises the owners of the Rock until XI to raise its large square walls. After the Tuscans were the Perugini take in possession and transformed it into a real castle fortified.
Between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the castle came under the hands of several owners, was demolition, reconstruction and alteration of various types.
The complex resisted, even if not in toto, to the World War, maintaining or regaining despite the course of events an important position for the town of Passignano which today makes it reason to boast in terms of artistic and historical heritage Cultural available.
